Creating Art and functional objects
with Hand Building Techniques

Are you interested in exploring the art of ceramics, but hesitant to commit to purchasing all of the necessary equipment? Are you drawn to the creativity and mindfulness of pottery-making, but concerned about the time and effort it might require? Or have you tried your hand at ceramics before, only to be discouraged by the challenges and setbacks that can arise? If any of these resonate with you, I invite you to consider learning handbuilding in my studio. With my guidance and support, you can bypass the frustration and setbacks that are common when starting out in ceramics, and instead find joy and satisfaction in the process of creating meaningful and intentional pieces.

Handbuilding is a ceramic technique that allows you to create forms with clay and your hands, and a few simple tools. To form an object out of clay with your hands, it encompasses three main techniques and forming methods; pinching, coiling, and slab building. Owning them will give you the skill to create and build  your own personal functional tableware, vessels, sculptures, and more.

All levels welcome. Nadia offers hand building private and semi private classes as well as group classes for special celebrations. Most will be held at Studio Union or in a private
setting.
